Nature of change in Port Phillip Bay: Our Changing Coastline

Date

Wednesday 14th February 2024

Time

6pm – 7:30pm

Location

Online

We invite you to come and explore our changing coastline on Wednesday, February 14, at our next Nature of Change webinar.

The coastline of Port Phillip Bay is changing due to storm surge events, king tides, and rising sea levels, influencing our beach profiles over time.

Join us to learn about climate change and its impact on our coastal communities. Dr. James Driscoll (Monash University, Faculty of Science) will delve into how and why the climate is changing and the repercussions on our coastal communities. Jak McCarroll (Victorian Department of Energy, Environment, and Climate Change) will then provide insights into some of the coastal hazards faced in Port Phillip Bay. He'll discuss changes over time, provide an overview of the Victorian Coastal Monitoring Program, and highlight efforts to measure these changes.

This event is part of a series of community workshops and field trips brought to you by Life Saving Victoria in partnership with the Association of Bayside Municipalities and the Victorian National Parks Association. "The Nature of Change in Port Phillip Bay" series is supported by the Victorian Government.
