Grant: Nature of change in Port Phillip Bay

The project: Life Saving Victoria (LSV) in partnership with the Association of Bayside Municipalities (ABM) and Victorian National Parks Associations (VNPA) will develop and host an event series about the nature of change in Port Phillip Bay.

Change is part of the dynamic environment of Port Phillip Bay. The impacts of climate change around the Bay increase the frequency and extent of changes people see and experience. Rather than working in isolation, ABM Member Councils and Life Saving Victoria want to work in partnership to generate conversations with the community about the nature of change in Port Phillip Bay, as we strive to normalise the conversation of climate change?

Proposed outputs: Event series over 18 months starting 1 July 2023 through to 20 December 2024 comprising online webinars and field trips.

Desired outcomes: Strengthen knowledge and capacity in the community to understand the change processes in Port Phillip Bay – historical changes, current time and the predicted future of climate change impacts around the Bay.

Normalise the conversation of change on the coastline, bringing greater awareness to the nature of a dynamic environment and the need to adapt the way we live, work and play in that environment.

Project partners: Life Saving Victoria, the Association of Bayside Municipalities and Victorian National Parks Associations.

Grant Fund: Coastcare 2023
